From StyleList: Our latest makeover client comes to us with a head full of unruly ringlets.

Even though Vanessa Paul says her current style is easy, wearing her tight curls in a ponytail are not flattering to her oval face shape.

Celebrity hairstylist Shirlena Allen knows a thing or two about curly coifs so she gets to work on making Vanessa's hair sexy and simple.

From the Frisky:

'Sesame Street' has aired a new song, 'I Love My Hair,' aimed at young black girls to teach them to value and love their natural hair. The character dances and sings in every hairstyle imaginable, from a small Afro to ponytails to cornrows to twists. This is an important lesson for black girls to learn because even if they come from a household where natural hair is celebrated, like I did, they will no doubt get the "lesson" from the outside world that straight and silky is better.

From Coco + Creme
Brazilian Blowout has been all the rage in salons nationwide. The intense smoothing treatment promises to improve the health of hair by coating the cuticle in protein, which eliminates frizz and leaves our tresses luxuriously shiny.

On its Website, the company boasts several factors that supposedly set it apart from the rest: The products are non-damaging and contain no harsh chemicals, the treatment is quick and can be completed in just 90 minutes, results are immediate and last for up to 12 weeks, and all products are allegedly formaldehyde-free.

Well, recent studies done by Oregon's Occupational Safety & Health Administration have found that last claim to be untrue. After the FDA received complaints of adverse health effects caused during application of the Brazilian Blowout, chemists decided to test the products in a lab. Keep in mind that precautions are supposed to be taken when hair products contain even .1 percent formaldehyde. The two samples taken from different salons in Oregon found that the smoothing solution did, in fact, contain about 8 to 10 percent of the carcinogen. (To read more visit Coco + Creme.)

From StyleList:

If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, Rihanna should be feeling pretty darn good about herself today -- thanks to her lively "Matador Red" locks.

Model Milica Blagojevic strutted down the catwalk yesterday at the Hakaan spring 2011 show during Paris Fashion Week donning a copycat color and cut of the pop star's bright red 'do.

The mastermind behind the vibrant hue -- which was dyed on site at the show -- is colorist Christophe Robin, who also worked his magic on Shirley Mallmann's blond tresses, transforming them into a trendy shade of lilac gray. Whether you like these looks or not (our guess is not), they were a one-hit wonder -- Robin dyed the model's locks back to their original colors after the show.

Will Rihanna inspire more extreme runway looks?

Based on her past hairstyles of stripy highlights, an edgy crop, slicked-back strands and even a Mohawk, we know this 22-year-old will keep pushing the hair envelope. So we won't be surprised if there are more impersonations to come.

Let's just hope the fashion world decides not to copy Lady Gaga's recent "dress."

From Stylelist:
Imagine spending two and a half hours doing your hair! That's what our latest makeover client, Stacy Trujeque, does in order to straighten her long, textured locks.

Not only is this time-consuming and damaging to her strands, but it's also the wrong look for Trujeque's oval face shape, according to celebrity hairstylist Chaz Dean. "We want to work that shape for your advantage instead of fighting it," he says.

To do so, Dean adds a soft fringe around Trujeque's cheekbones and jawline to open up her face and bring more of a square, balanced shape to it. Then he lops off a few inches from the heat-damaged ends and creates long layers to lighten her heavy mane and bring it away from her face.

Finally, in contrast to the hours Trujeque spent straightening with a flat iron, her hair is styled with a round brush and large rollers for loose, bouncy curls.

"You look incredible," Dean says when he's done transforming Trujeque's coarse hair into a soft, wavy 'do. To watch her makeover, visit Stylelist.

If there was one thing that stood about Ahmad "Real" Givens on the VH1 reality shows 'I Love New York' and 'Real Chance of Love', it would have to be his long, luscious locks. Now, the man whose hair the majority of black women envy is the face of his very own line.

Givens is the co-founder of the hair care line 'Real Silk'. The line, which consists of products ranging from flat irons to heat protecting sprays, promotes long healthy hair. Supermodel Naomi Campbell was in the hot seat at the war crimes trial for ex- Liberian leader Charles Taylor. The notorious cell phone thrower was forced to testify about receiving blood diamonds from Taylor as a gift after a celebrity dinner in South Africa in 1997. Campbell -- who was less than thrilled to be testifying -- took the stand in this rather interesting looking beehive weave with dramatic bangs. We're used to seeing the supermodel in straight and sleek weaves, so we're not sure how we feel about this look. What do you think? Hot or not?
