I think we do need to learn how to take care of our hair. The reason why I say this is because growing up, as black women we are told that our natural hair is bad, nappy, unprofessional, and even filthy looking. As an adult I have come to know that this is not true. If it wasn't for youtube I would not have found the true beauty in my natural hair. I would still be sitting at the hair addresser every 6 six weeks putting chemicals in it so it can look more closely like the white women on tv.

You are a nut. Locks are not natural, and are nasty and filthy looking. Conditioner is not natural either....Fool!

when I became natural, I needed youtube to help me take care of my hair. Youtube has other black women who are transitioning and growing healthy hair and they are inspirational to many other black females who are natural now and who are transitioning. I am sorry but I am not a fan of dreadlocks it looks creepy. That is my preference and my opinion. You can't just put any shampoo or any conditioner in black hair because beautiful healthy natural hair requires expensive natural products.

Luvingmylocks,
I know that blacks needing a book and youtube to learn how to care for their hair may sound ridiculous, but the fact of the matter is that it's NEEDED. Have you not seen Chris Rock's "Good Hair?" Have you not paid attention to the amount of black woment that feel they have to be weaved up all the time (with very unhealthy hair underneath)? I work in an urban school system, and it breaks my heart to see these young girls walking around with no edges and ponytails with literally 2-3 inches of hair hanging out. Tips on black hair care is needed. If it wasn't, there wouldn't be a market for it honey. Welcome to reality!

I am very sorry for those African American women who do not know nor can appreciate their God given beauty. The african american woman's beauty is something that all races relish; whether they are willing to admit it or not. We are the only ones that can not perceive it. The rich color and texture of our skin; our lips, high cheek bones, round backside, sturdiness, and most of all our hair. That is one of the most beautiful things about us, our hair. PLEASE STOP ALLOWING OTHER RACES TO DEFINE OUR BEAUTY. BEAUTIFUL BLACK SISTERS! HOLD YOUR HEAD UP HIGH AND WALK WITH THE CONFIDENCE THAT OUR NATURAL BEAUTY COMMANDS. ONCE YOU SEE THE BEAUTY WITHIN, OTHERS WILL RECOGNIZE IT TOO. STOP THE PITY PARTIES, BE ENCOURAGED AND MOST OF ALL LOVE YOUR BLACK SELF! PEACE OUT.

This application is not about helping black women with their hair.. it's about making money.

The application can help black women with their hair and make money. The world I live in I need money to survive, but I care about other people and help provide a service. An example is with Hair Restoration since this helps people have a full head of hair it also gives someone a job.

Just as it is with ALL people of EVERY ethnic group and skin color, NO INDIVIDUAL'S hair is EXACTLY the same as another's!
Even within the same family group of Mom, Dad and their offspring, the grade and texture of the hair often differs!
There is no such thing as "African-American" hair, anyway, being that we people of color have a mixture of ancestry, anyway!
Think about that, please, before making such a sweeping generalization and lumping all Black people together in that all of us have the exact same hair!
Even in the animal Kingdom, there are differences among the same species regarding their fur, etc.!
I thank you!
