Today British royalty Prince William and Katherine Middleton are officially wed. But you don't have to be royalty to look like a queen. Take Angela Bassett for instance, whose side swept hairstyle enhances her beauty and adds to her already quite regal presence. Try out these different updos to transform a simple hairstyle into a look that's fit for a queen.
Chignon
The bun is a classic choice to draw attention to your face and makeup. Thandie Newton's smooth, pulled back look made her beauty and attire the highlights of her ensemble.

Braided Bun
Before Rihanna was a redhead, she was a beautiful brunette. Here she wore this particular updo made with a number of fishtail braids pinned to the base of her head, adding a nice twist on a simple bun.

Curled Bun
Keshia Knight Pulliam's hairstyle is beautiful because the curls are defined. The combination of her framing braid and bangs come together to create a funky elegance.

High Ponytail
Beyonce's golden high ponytail is neatly tucked and pinned under to create an illuminating fullness, with strands of hair are wrapped around the base to mimic a ponytail holder.

Curl looks better on women of color, chemicals and hotcomb's are so yesterday and ghetto. We natural women of color are today. Straight hair all false and fake is not our true nature, Be true to yourself and happy in your skin its healthy for our hair and minds, Plus our daughters are looking for true role models, So they don't have to grow up following behind white woman's straight natural, Lets copy black women's many natural styles with curl. Its more healthy for our hair.

Some people have naturally straight or wavy hair because of their heritage. So, don't judge everyone who wears a straight style maybe they can't sport an Afro. I know the only way I can is if I braid my hair while it is wet, then roll it on sponge rollers and wait for it to dry. However your "natural" hair texture, do you!

Every message you read is NOT always for you...This is for those who's hair is damaged from over use of chemicals and hotcombs. And I don't care about your hair, go do something with it. I speak of natural's which are cute natural and curly, Where as afro tend to be comb or picked out, Like the old Jackson's I speak of natural like Lenny Kravitz use to wear. Just do you!

There are some "Blacks" who do have straight hair! My hair is fine and I cannot get a bush. When they were in style I did everything to get one but couldn't. So all of us who have straight hair didn't use a hot comb or perms. Anyway --- let people do whatever they want with their hair. If you want to wear a bush --- great and if someone else want to wear their hair straight --- great. This article is about hairstyles and not about what type of hair you have.

Afro is more appropriate only because if ones hair is curly or straight and not by means of a perm or hot comb, then it is in its natural state.
