WTF is that on top of Erica Atkins head? She looks ridiculous. What is wrong with rocking your own hair? Black women are not suppose to have straight hair, just like white women aren't suppose to have big azz, full lips or strong bone structure. That's the reason they are the ones that suffer with ostero diseases. Their bones are week. God gave up a strong back to carry all da azz...lol Sistahs...really, yall need to stop. You can't ask for a real man when everything about you is fake

Tired of seeing all these weave jobs being given accolades that they should be admired -- what happened to celebrating REAL hair?

All black women hates her hair and will hotcomb it till a fake white look is obtained, Or she will wear a white look wig and the funny looking weave looking like BOZO the clown. What message you giving your daughters? what? you not "pretty" till you copy a white look hair doo. WTF! We love our women of color natural and happy in her skin not fake white looking!

Sometimes I think we get out of touch with who we really are. There's so much confusion all around as to how we are supposed to look. We straighten our hair and wear weaves to get the look of a white woman because too many black men feel that is what a beautiful woman should look like. On the other hand we forget that we are black and like one poster mentioned there are just attributes that we were not meant to have.
Out hair is not supposed to be silky straight yet I have a black male friend who is the type who carries a permanent black card and has to let everyone know that he loves being black on a daily basis, yet if I have so much as a slight kink on my very African hair he has nasty comments. When I am around him and his mother I feel like I am under a microscope because I know I am about to be butchered for having hair that is not extremely straight. I have to explain to them that I am half black and half black and that is just the way most of us with black ancestry turn out. It is sad that I have to explain this to black people who are in no way of mixed heritage. I don't know if it's the fact that I wear my normal God given hair or if it's the fact that I opt not to wear a silky straight wig like his mother and sister.
It is awful how we are so out of touch with our true identity. There are some things in life you can attempt to cover up but something that comes naturally will not go away no matter how hard you try. It's such a contradiction. When white people accept out looks we accept out looks. Some of us say we love being black but we do not mean that 100%.
