Hairstylists everywhere tout the importance of keeping hair and scalp moisturized, but many black girls with relaxed hair know that just a little bit of oil can lead to a heavy, greasy mane in just a day or so. Our writer road tests Mizani's newest offering: Supreme Oil to see if it lives up to the hype.

Constantly in the search for a new (preferably organic) hair product that won't over-grease or under-moisturize my hair, I jumped at the chance to try a blowout using Mizani's new Supreme Oil, a lightweight, silicone- and paraben-free product that uses eight natural oils in its formula.
Upon meeting my stylist Rod Horton, I knew I'd be in good hands. The styling veteran (22 years, to be exact) is party of Mizani's New York development team, testing all their new products on volunteers before the company graces the masses with them. Thus an official expert on all the hot new items, Horton taught me that Supreme Oil isn't just for hair – it's actually an all-purpose oil that can be used for anything from hot oil baths to a great winter lotion replacement. Because it lacks most of the synthetic products found in heavier hair products, it also manages to stick to strands without caking up.
After a scalp massage to die for, I fell asleep in the chair. As it turns out, Horton actually applied Supreme Oil to my hair on three different occasions. After cleansing with Mizani Moisturfusion Milk Bath Shampoo and Silk Cream Conditioner, he towel-dried my hair and applied a few drops before blow drying. A few more drops were added before flat ironing, and a final dose was finger-combed in as a finishing serum.
The result? A bouncy, fresh style with similar movement – but way more body – than what I get from my weekly Dominican blowout. My hair smelled fresh, not fried, and those split ends I can never seem to get away from were invisible. I couldn't stop sniffing my hair on the way home, which probably made me look like a genuine creep on the street. I'll live with it.
