Well hello, Lloyd!
The R&B crooner known as "Mr. Long Hair Don't Care" made a dramatic change to his look today, and revealed it all on Twitter.
"The R&B star, who began growing his hair over 10 years ago, felt like it was time for a change, and time to give back, "I've been growing my hair since 9th grade. It's time for a new me." said Lloyd. He went on to say, "The fact that my hair will go to someone that needs it more than me, makes me feel great about my decision."
Lloyd has always been an avid supporter of non-profit charity work, especially when his efforts go toward benefiting children in need. Non-profit organization Locks of Love will use Lloyd's donated hair to provide a hair piece for a financially disadvantaged child (under age 21) suffering from long-term medical hair loss. The organization was happy to work with Lloyd, and both parties hope that their partnership will inspire others to donate.
Mahogany Wright, Lloyd's long time hair braider gave the artist one final braid, then did the honors of cutting off the 12 inch lock of hair. Moments before, Lloyd had this to say, "I'm doing this for me. I feel like it's time for a change and now is the perfect time." Lloyd's childhood barber, known simply as "Parker The Barber', who was the last person to cut his hair when he was just 14, finished the job by giving the artist a fresh new look. After his cut, Lloyd simply stated, "I feel liberated."
Close-Cropped Celebs!
Angel Murphy, the daughter of Melanie "Scary Spice" Brown and Eddie Murphy, showed off her Mohawk on an outing with her mother and step dad, Stephen Belafonte. Did Mel B.'s bald husband inspire her to cut her daughter's hair?
After being snapped by paparazzi last week, Solange Knowles was shocked by the backlash from fans. On her Twitter page, she wrote, "i. just. wanted. to. be. free. from. the. bondage. that. black. women sometimes. put. on. themselves. with. hair."
Bald is beautiful! Just ask Sudan-born supermodel Alek Wek, who has been rockin' the baldie since she first stepped onto the runway in the '90s.
A few months ago, most people would be saying "Amber who?" Now, Kanye's girlfriend, Amber Rose, has a contract with Ford Models and a permanent spot in the gossip blogs. Her edgy and barely-there hair might have something to do with it.
Never one to shy away from a bold and edgy look, Rihanna is the latest in a long line of young celebrities to embrace, or at least partially embrace, the bald.
If singer Cassie was looking for publicity when she shaved a portion of her head, she got it! Blogs were abuzz about the pretty artist's new half-buzz cut.
After giving props to Cassie for her new look, La La Vasquez followed suit with a more subtle version.
'G.I. Jane,' the movie for which Demi Moore cut off all her hair, flopped, but the resulting style didn't! Her hair, or lack thereof, became a hot red-carpet accessory.
Sometimes going bald is not so much a fashion statement as it is a statement of insanity. Case in point: Britney Spears, whose bald head signaled a highly publicized mental breakdown.
A hair chameleon, Erykah Badu has gone from huge headwraps to long dreads to wild afros. This look was just one on her long list of creative looks.

New look, just in time for a new album. Lloyd has been working on his fourth studio album and Zone 4/Interscope debut, 'King of Hearts,' and his new single 'Lay It Down' is getting heavy rotation on urban radio.
Lloyd looks great, and we applaud the reasons for the new look! But we know some of his fans will miss those signature locks.
So what say you, ladies? Are you feeling Lloyd's haircut, or not?

I don't like the new cut although I'm glad he did it for a good cause. I take objection to the fact that his hair made him look feminine and womanly. I disagree. Like AllBahian said I was tired of the braid look but Lloyd's natural hair is very beautiful and is naturally curly and silky and really suited his fresh young hip look - the brother is only 24 years old.
I definitely do not object to brother's wearing long hair as long as it is not processed and worn in a "feminine style". But some ethnic groups wear their hair long for cultural or religious reasons so long hair is not an indicator of a man's sexual preference nor should it be. As long as the long hair is well kept and worn naturally more power to you.
A good number of African American applicants do not get the job because of racism. Let's not play it off. Why bullshyt? Granted corporate America does require the ability to operate according to its anal and Eurocentric standards, there have been many black applicants who have met these standards and were overqualified and who still did not get the job and it was proven to be due to RACE. How many cabs in NYC or any large city have passed up well-groomed black men in expensive suits and briefcases. Don't make it seem as if the reason a lot of us are passed up for high six figure jobs is because we showed up for the interview in a doo-rag and bedroom slippers. Let's keep it real here.
But back to Lloyd. I ain't feelin the cut. His lovely silky mane was his signature look and I hope he gets back to it soon.

the sissy look doesnt work but if a black man walks around looking hard that doesnt work either. I say everyone stop worrying about him because gaurenteed he has more money then half the low lifes hating. He has a job and if he wants to wear his hair long thats his choice not ours.

I DON'T CARE IF HE IS 24, 14 OR 4, OR WHAT TEXTURE HIS HAIR IS. THAT SHIT WAS TOO LONG FOR A MALE. THAT IS THE PROBLEM WITH FEMALES TODAY, THEY DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT A REAL MAN IS SUPOSE TO LOOK LIKE OR ACT SO HOW IN THE HELL CAN THEY FIND ONE.

From time to time B.V. love to put entertainers on this blog that a lot of people never heard of and he is one of them. Good thing to do for charity the selling of his hair, but really who the hell cares! When he truly get some big fame under his feet then maybe he will have some who will care about this boring azz story.

I myself have never heard of him but they say he is a charitable man, and in the end that is all that should count, except for the few ignorants that are probably stingy and wouldn't give anyone anything, and also jealous because he has some beautiful hair, and willing to share. Some of you young ppl make me sick. Never a good word for anyone.

Hair length or texture does NOT make a man or determine masculinity. I live in California and there are MANY Asian, Hispanic and Native American men and boys who wear their hair long. It is part of their culture and it does not affect their masculinity or a female's perception of such. In some cultures long hair for both men and women is seen as containing one's life force or spiritual energy not a determination of one's gender or sexual identity. And since other ethnic groups are more interested in self-determination and building up their own enterprises isntead of going to work for "the man" they are free to dress and act in a style that most truly reflects their culture and value system. If we did the same we could wear dashikis and "ethnic" hairstyles in the workplace without a racist corporate culture thinking we are walking around like angry black militants.
I don't care if a man has hair down to his knees as long as it is not processed and he does not have kiddie barettes or ribbon in it. His hair or lack of it is not an indicator of his masculinity or lack thereof - at least not in my opinion.
