just because we don't wear our own natural hair out it doesn't mean we don't love ourselves.. unfortunately this is what many of us are accustomed to. we invent the styles and every other race follows suit.. we are not trying to be white or act white.. as a black woman i can tell you, i like variety and if weave will give it to me than so be it..
my hair is natural.. i cut the permed hair off bout 3yrs ago.. don't regret it but i'm still adjusting and learning how to take care of it.. but best to believe when i want something fly i go to the hair salon and get me a weave and when i don't want to deal w/my hair at all, i go and get braids..
women will go natural on their own terms and when the time is right for them..

i agree.. we should put the Asian beauty supply industry out of business.. we need more AA beauty supply stores that cater to our hair..

Beautiful words Sheila, but we live in a world that thrives on the white standard of beauty...it's sad, but very true...MOST black people are not aware of their beauty because the world says if you don't have white features you are not beautiful. I'm glad that you are cut from a different cloth...God bless

How about interviewing some of the native Atlantans that live in proximity to downtown or work downtown at the venue where this event is held multiple times a year? BRONNER BROTHERS brings out the RUDEST and most INCONSIDERATE women of color in the nation. My coworkers and I HATE TO SEE YOU ALL COMING!!! Most everybody that works downtown is in some form of service industry and none of the participants or show-goers tip a dime but we sure run our tails off trying to make sure you're all happy! No gratitude, only attitude. I am embarrassed to admit that I am a woman of color when this group is in OUR city. You all should be ashamed of your collective behavior! My mother is a stylist and she won't bring herself anywhere near the city for this. I don't blame her, you give them all a bad representation. Peace spoken.
