With heat advisories and record temperatures across the country, it's hard to go anywhere without looking like a melted, frizzy mess. The humidity in the summer air causes the cuticles in our hair to expand, which results in the frizz effect we all love to hate. Thankfully, there are a ton of hair products for every hair type that can help fight the summer humidity. Check out some of Black Voices' favorites.
For Straight Hair: Straight hair can be the hardest to maintain in the summer time, but Pantene's Frizz Control Smooth Creme ($6, drugstores) helps tame the frizz and flyaways throughout the day.
For Natural Hair: With no processing or chemicals, frizz can be especially common in natural hair. Try Smooth 'n Shine Polishing Gellation ($3, drugstores) to keep the humidity at bay.
For Curly Hair: Because of the curl's shape, the effect of humidity on curly hair's cuticles is greater than other hair types. Ouidad Climate Control ($22, Sephora) was created specifically for curly hair. The product hydrates and keeps your 'do smooth thanks to a wheat protein that shields hair from heat.
Before a Blowdry: Aussie's Sydney Smooth 12 Hour Anti-Humidity Hair Spray ($3, drugstores) contains a silk protein that keeps hair cuticles smooth. Apply this product to your hair while it's wet before blowdrying or diffusing.
For a Finishing Touch: Kiehls Climate Proof Shine Enhancing Spray ($16, department stores) has been around for years and is a great product to spray on after styling your hair to keep hair and frizz in place while also adding a healthy, shiny sheen.
For a Mid-Day Touch-Up: Many women swear by John Frieda Frizz-Ease Hair Serum ($6, drugstores) and the small bottle is perfect to tote around so you can pull it out in the middle of the day when you need to tame those flyaways.

I have fine, wavy, long hair that is prone to frizz (on humid days) and static (on dry days).
I use the Shielo "Bounce Style Creme" which is all-purpose that you can use to tame frizzies and static, straighten hair or boost curls, and add shine, depending on how you use it.
After towel-drying my hair, I usually rub a nickel-sized amount into the ends (not the roots where it can get greasy) and then blow-dry as usual. It really protects my hair from heat styling damage and looks so healthy and shiny. My hair smells great, too! Don't expect a lot of hold, but your hair will be touchably super soft. Also, make sure to evenly-distribute the cream in your hair. Be careful not to use too much or your hair can look a little oily/greasy like you haven't washed it.

I can not believe the person who said it is only black people that have this problem, I am whiter than white and have severe frizzy hair in the heat, And when I am abroad my hair GHD Do not keep my hair straight the heat the minute I get in humidity it just makes my hair so uncontrollable. my hair is very fine and I end up having to just put hair up in a dog clip which I never really feel good in . So If anyone has any miracles to what I can use , I would be very grateful. Thanks

I tried many many many different products and SHielo's Antioxidant Leave in Protector is the best. I use it on dry hair to smooth away frizz and fly aways.
I just spray it in the middle of my hair and ends and smooth down the frizz with my hands. I wash my hair 2-3 times a week. After I apply this product, my hair is nice the next day as well, but I sometimes spray even more... it doesn't really matter, i never feel like i have too much on.
My hair is fine and naturally straight BTW. however i have layers and the ends of my layers are more damaged and frizzy. I use the Shielo product mostly on the ends ...and throughout and the best thing is that it does not weight the hair down it just smooths it a little bit. I hope this helps :)
