Of course, with more than 200,000 women coming through the convention center during the three-day weekend, there were enough hairstyles to fill up a few hair magazines. Sisters were doing it up!

Oh dang Doll1818...I feel for ya. You sound like a lost and miserable little girl. Sweetheart, you shouldn't need other people's thoughts to complete you. And, you shouldn't need flakeness to complete you. I doubt if you even know who you are, as you started this madness at the age of 13.
Your mother deserves a slap of a kick in the pants for allowing this to happen. Black Americans are not quiet as bad as African Americans with this degrading habit. An African in my neighborhood put extensions in her 2 year old's head. Frightening!

@ miss doll1818
r u sure u r happy with u? reading u r post i can count the amount of times you talk about how many ppl has come up to u and told u nice things about u r style and how confident u supposedly r.it makes me stop and think, because truly confident ppl doesn't usually scream "I AM CONFIDENT".u also said the falseness started @ age 13. just for the record when u become a mommy some day please give ur little girl a chance to love her natural self before you run her of to buy false nails ,hair..............ect.

FIRST OF ALL YOU KNOW I AM SURE AND YES IT IS VERY NICE WHEN PEOPLE COMPLIMENT ME ALL THE TIME I ABSOLUTELTY LOVE IT !!!!! SEE MOST PEOPLE HAVE TO SAY I AM BEAUTIFUL TO THEMSELVES BECAUSE IF THEY DONT TELL THEM SELVES THAT WHO WILL WELL THANK GOD I DONT HAVE TO DO THAT. AND I THANK GOD AGAIN FOR WHAT HE GAVE ME AND THATS THE GIFT TO DO IT ALL SO VERY WELL AND DO YOU KNOW HOW MANY PEOPLE TELL ME DONT CHANGE WHO YOU ARE. BECAUSE FORTUNATELY FOR ME I LOVE IT AND SO DO MY PEOPLE. AND NO I AM NEVER HAVING KIDS BUT IF I DID I WOULD TEACH HER HOW TO BE A GIRLY GIRL JUST LIKE HER MOTHER.OR BE THE LADY SHE WANTS TO BE.

I love it when black women step outside of the box on beauty. Im a 37 yr old black woman that love to wear my hair in different styles such as: faded, sew-in, braided in micros, kinky twisit or braided into a mohawk, permed, dyed black with lil frosting or even my own shoulder length hair. Black women have many options in which to select from. Unlike other races we have the best of both worlds. I have a 22 yr old daughter that wears hair permed & has had it frosted once in her life. Both of us have beautiful hair. We are very different but we wear our hair according to what makes us happy! Woman & men stop dogging each other for being different. Along with all the awesome shades of color we can have unique hair trends. I look at the white women & think dang all they have is short, long or color. lol sad. It doesnt matter what color your hair is cause if it look a mess then it look a mess. Black women dont be afraid to live outside the box. Dont be afraid to do something that goes against the grain of what a black woman should look like or how she should wear her hair. Hair is a womans glory...what makes you feel good about your looks I say do it!!!!

When did false nails make a woman fake? Who thought of this comment? Some man who couldn't afford to send his woman to the nail shop of some bitter woman who couldn't afford it? Wearing false nails is a womans choice. For me it makes my hands look a lot more presentable & Im a trucker the regular manicure gets beat up pretty bad. What makes are woman or man fake is when they lie to themselves then repeat it to others!

i agree w/you.. if my hair is not my own, i'm fake.. no i'm a real person w/extensions.. some ppl are a mess i tell you. they'll try to throw you under the bus because of your decisions just so they can score brownie points w/themselves. We all need to do what makes us happy and I do just that.
i don't wear fake nails (had a bad accident in HS w/them), but i love a good weave - curly or straigh, short or long (mainly short), and braid or twists.. I like variety and if i have to buy hair 2 achieve it then that's what i'll do..

I hate when ladies who choose to be natural try to act like those who wear weaves are insecure or trying to be white.Doll1818 i bet you do keep it tight and bet you do like the attenion i know i would cause i am a gay man who loves to come across fly divas like you. now the bad weaves and uneven makeup is what they should say needs to stop.

I really thought the discussion was about "Hairstyles From the 2010 Essence Music Festival"? Why are many of you talking about who is fake and who is real? CAN WE ALL BE REAL, and STAY FOCUS AND ON TOPIC, AND GET ALONG?
