Naomi Campbell does not come across as cuddly or approachable. She's beautiful and fierce. I'm thinking the people around her hesitate to mention the obvious, so I'll take a shot.
Naomi, it's time to leave the weaves be and let your hairline live. When I caught sight of these photos on the gossip blog Miss Jia of Campbell at a New York City photo shoot on Monday, my heart went out to her poor scalp. It doesn't deserve this kind of abuse!
The U.K.'s Daily Mail identifies the issue as traction alopecia, which can be caused by "tight hair styles, ponytails, hard brushing and hair extensions." It's generally recommended that weaves stay in for no longer than six weeks, and it's always best to visit a stylist who keeps the integrity of your hairline in mind.
Here's hoping Naomi finds a product to help grow back those edges and give her scalp some much-needed love!

What advice would you have for Naomi Campbell, in light of these hair-raising photos?

Patty.... I don't know Beyonce personally.... but I know some one that does and Beyonce, the mom and sister has always had hair. They do add extensions....but they have lots of hair already. I can't speak for Naomi though. And P.S. I know some women personally have lots of hair and just like to change up for shorter or longer length and for the colors.

Wigs and weaves are just a way to have different looks for most women, totake care of the hair you would need someone who know about your hair type, you have to take care of the scalp as well as the hair, African americans need different products than caucasians we can't have heating products onour hair everyday, and that one of the reasons for all the "Fake stuff".

She is so strikingly beautiful with hair or bald. She seems detached from herself, resigned to all the industry beauty perils. Price of fame and fortune i guess.

As a stylist, it clearly shows that Naomi does NOT have Alopecia! When I have a client who wants to have "micros" or "box braids" I explain to them the aftermath of having them. Some stylist are just out to make the most money off of individuals, not being concerned if they return or not. However, constant micros, box braiding causes bald patches, hairloss, etc. When the hair is pulled tight, it causes scalp irritation which leads to pain the first couple of days, then to a constant itch due to dry scalp. constant scratching in one spot causes your hair to break off which eventually leads to a bald patch. when getting micros, braids, etc people MUST grease their scalp EVERY day!

yes! this is so true. people believe braids r care-free but the reqire maintenance like all styles and the horror stories are either due to braiding way too tight and/or not moisturizing and cleaning [yes, u do wash braids!] them. i can keep mine in 2 months without breakage and with healthy new growth.

Denise, you're so right about washing braids. I've been wearing braids (micro/lacing) for many years now, and do not relax my hear, and when I take it out after 2-3months, my hair is so healthy and strong. Anyway, I wash mine every week and color it every month to keep the color strong because I workout every day. When I go to my hair stylist to take 'em out she gets amazed how clean and fresh they look and might I add smell good. But what surprises me is how she constantly tells me not to wash them because they'll tangle even though she can clearly see that washing keeps them looking fresh, clean and healthy. When I wash them every saturday when I come back from the gym, I do exactly the same things I do to my actual hair, which is shampoo, condition (which makes it softer and shinny), and blow dry with low heat and apply very soft oil on my scalp. If you maintain your braids the same way you maintain your real hair, it'll look fantastic!!!

oh, my bad: Advice 2 Naomi [now make sure she gets this ok?]: Take out the weave and choose a natural hair style; better yet, shave it bald and start from scratch - i did one summer and it was Heaven! lots of compliments from strangers, too! u just have to rock the make-up and outfits which i think u can manage! everybody can't have naturals like oprah or queen la's hair, but everybody can grow their own long, strong, thick, NAPPY hair and work it like a supermodel - without weaves or extensions. its just that few take the time or care 2 do it w/so many convenient options i.e. wigs, weaves, braids...yeah, naomi jusr start fresh and show your naturally beautiful self!

How can she start new when there's nothing there to begin with? LOL. She has worn wigs/weaves for so long, that now she HAS to wear them to cover that taco meat on the side of her head. I've seen women with damaged edges before, but nothing like this. She's fierce on the outside with the personality of a smelly diaper on the inside...and now this! LMAO
Lets keep in mind the industry she's in. I'm sure the majority of stylists that have touched her scalp are white, and used to only doing white womens' hair;which means they don't take the time & care needed to properly remove weaves/bonding glue, thread, etc. It is imperative for black women to go to stylists that will help nurture your hair, not harm it.

Besides, Naomi seems way too vain to let us see her without some sort of weave. Part of her image is her hair, which is usually long & flowy...and I don't think she'll give that up for anything, even if it means complete baldness for her!
