Your Hair Could Stop Oil Spills!

The recent disaster in the Gulf of Mexico is beyond tragic for the wildlife and the residents of the region. Our hearts go out to those who rely upon the fishing industry in the coastal areas, as this disaster comes slowly ashore.

If you're sitting at home wondering what you can do to help -- there is something you can do for this important environmental cause. You can go to the salon and get a haircut.

Matter of Trust is a charity organization based in San Francisco that collects human and animal hair clippings and converts them into oil-absorbing hair-mats. The hair clippings are stuffed into recycled nylons, creating hair booms. These booms are then tied together and used to encircle and contain oil spills to keep them from spreading. For more information on the cause, check out the video below and visit the Matter of Trust Web site.
