Last week, instead of writing at the speed of light from my homebase of Chicago, I found myself making a trip to Washington DC.
On an absolutely gorgeous Spring day, I visited Howard University's campus, to witness a unique casting call for Ford Fiesta. The Inspired By Color event brought out Howard's most fashion forward students, to audition before some select celebrity judges.
Latoya Luckett was one of the judges, and I am happy to report that she is absolutely stunning in person. And her shoe game is tight! Here she is, checking out the new Ford Fiesta.
And here I am - the car really is super cute, and comes in bright and unusual colors like Yellow Blaze, Lime Squeeze, and Red Candy.
Vibe magazine's fashion director and stylist Memsor Kamarake was on hand to style the aspiring spokesmodels - looking quite stylish himself!
The previous day's session had brought out hundreds of candidates, but on the day I attended the hopefuls had been whittled down to about 25 young men and women. And just about all of them were absolutely flawless. Check it out!

This young lady was proud of her DIY hair, which came about after a dye job gone wrong! She was rocking two different colors, and a natural textured hairstyle. And her blue eyeliner was gorgeous too!
Absolutely loved the asymmetrical cut on this gorgeous Howard University student. One half of her head was shaved down low, and the back was super short as well. It takes confidence to rock such a style, and she wore it well!
This girl was SO adorable, and fit right into the trend of the day - thrifting! So many of the girls had gotten their fashion finds at the thrift store. The frames were from her mom, but if memory serves correctly, her hat and her necklace were found at the thrift store. Love it!
Absolutely gorgeous! I loved her natural hair, bright smile, and that DRESS! She got it from Target, too! Love a bargain shopper!

There were some truly gorgeous girls in the running for the Ford Fiesta Inspired by Color casting call. At this point a winner hasn't yet been chosen, but if you ask me all the girls I photographed had undeniable star quality. Can't wait to see who wins!
