Many of my besties in the blogosphere clown on the Knowles sisters. Not because of their talent, Lord knows both of these beautiful Houston women can entertain like nobody's biz. It's because of their hair.
My amiga Fresh of Crunk and Disorderly coined the term "wig crypt" for the Knowles family, and my other amiga Luvvie, well she'd just refer to Beyonce's typical hairstyle as a flammable hairhat.
We try not to bring that kind of judgment over here at BV Hair Talk.
So I'll just say, I was so pleasantly surprised at Solange's new 'do. She is workin' the TWA like nobody's business!
In case you don't know, TWA stands for Teeny Weenie Afro. Solange got her shape up and her side part in action, and took some of my bald is beautiful tips. Her makeup is flawless as always.
I love the style but you already know - I wouldn't be Afrobella if I didn't.
I think Solange's hair makes her look fresh, bright, and beautiful. It's very modern and puts her features in the spotlight rather than obscuring them. I'm hoping this is the beginning of a new trend. Own your fro, ladies!
But enough about what I think. What do you think?

I like Solange 's hair. I wonder if she cut it bc her hair was damaged from wigs/weave
(she's been wearing them back when wigs were GLUED ON! ...NOW we have lacefront but b4 we didnt) .
I wish I was bold enough. I did shave the back of my head in 99 due 2 severe damage & breakakge, but Wasnt bold enuf 2 shave my whole head. Now the back of head hair is growing nice & even but the rest of my head is messed up.

I absolutely love Solange's new look. Having been natural most of my life (with the exception of a 16 yr chemical stage), I'm happy she's embraced this look. She's always been very beautiful and stylish in her own right. The fact that she DOESN'T emulate Beyonce gives her even more beauty points. For those haters out there, remember India.Arie put it best..."I AM NOT MY HAIR"

Its great that the young woman is setting a positive example of embracing natural beauty. Now the whole world will be "braver" and have more confidence to rock the natural styles.

WOW....she looks way different. Her and her sister had healthy long hair, but being famous makes you change and have to keep a good image all the time. But not only do black people shave their heads so do the white people. Remember Demi Moore when G.I. Jane came out.

I think her TWA is pretty. I, too, have a TWA, and I really like mine, although everybody can't sport it. She, like her sister, is a beautiful young woman, but her body language in the picture shows a young woman who has doubt about herself. Maybe it's because of who her sister is. She needs to love herself despite that fact. I wish her well.

I agree it look like from her stance that she is feeling inferior standing next to beyonce and she should'nt. My son was telling me earlier tonight that Solange was jealous of Beyonce. She is not jealous of Beyonce. She is her own person and do not want to be in her sisters or anyone else's shadow. I understand where she is coming from. A interviewer said she was rude and crass and cuss like a sailor. well, that's what we do in Texas. We wear our cowboy boots, eat barbecue, drink our beer and cuss like sailors. When she is on a interview it is "How you doing Solange good to see you. Tell me about your new record" After she reply to that one question it's downhill from there. "How is Beyonce? How is JayZ? What are them two up too? When did they meet? How long they been together? Stupid asinine questions so she got fed up and just said, She will not be answering any more questions about J and Bey. If you want to know something about them have them on the show and ask them waht you want to ask. I do not blame her one bit. She is trying to have her own career let her have it damn it. I like her because she is old school. I like the oldies too. It was a hoot to hear her get down on songs that was out before she was even born. Stand up straight little baby hold your head up high. You are a superstar too in your own right. The world just need to catch up and realize what you and I already know. By the way, love the hair.

I totally agree, I wish she had taken pride in her beautiful TWA and stood tall and proud! It would make her appear powerful even if she was feeling a little insecure inside!
