While American men spend huge amounts of their hard-earned money in the often-futile quest of preventing baldness, some famous female celebrities are breaking out the razors and going either fully or partially bald. Most recently, Solange Knowles came under fire from some of her more conservative fans after she showed off her closely cropped 'do on the street last week.
Even babies are getting in on the trend. Melanie "Scary Spice" Brown recently gave Angel Murphy, her daughter with Eddie Murphy, an edgy Mohawk. But you know how they say fashion is cyclical? Mohawks have been around for decades, and women like Grace Jones have been rockin' a fierce bald head since before razor-happy stars like Solange, Cassie and Rihanna were born.

What was Solange thinking by cutting off all her hair. This is something personal and you know girl has issues. I've found when women cut off all their hair it's a control thing. They don't have much control over they lives and the cut off all their hair to make up for it. Maybe she needs attn, b/c sis is now getting all of it.

I'm not impressed by Solange's haircut...because I have never seen her real hair. It could have been really short already. She wore weaves all the time.

As I sit back an read these post all the styles I have done over the years flashed through my mind. I have braided, hot combed, cut, crinkled, finger wave, permed, dyed, wet looked, spiked, weaved, corn rolled and close cut my hair. I rock what I want when I want. My hair currently is vey short and I can wear it because I have a small round head. I have never had a problem meeting men and in some cases woman who thought I swung that way (don't). If you pay for it, it's yours. Oh I forgot, twisted, bumped, blunt cut and dreaded as well.

I also forgot wrapped, page boy, flipped and pony tailed. With a short cut it's brush, brush, brush and out. To some of the responses, you are clueless. Hair for some is a accessory. Style it like you want. Halle is not the only beautiful AA around. You don't need to go to Hollywood to see beautiful AA women, they are all around you. Confident and doing the damn thing.

Please, stop trying to glue stuff into your hair. It's a waste of time. i'd prefer short hair over long hair because. It's easier and just as beautiful. besides it does grow back ,and having long or short hair doesn't make any body more femine or not femine. If you don't like it, someone else will.

Men have their preference and it doesn't matter whether we like it or not. We women have our preference regarding men and their appearance. Women it is up to us to keep ourselves up the way WE LIKE TO LOOK regardless of what men think. There is someone for everyone. When one man who is not interested in the way you look; there is another man who will love you for who you are and how you look.

Excuse me,but how many of you "women shouldn't wear fake hair weaves, fake extentions, fake wigs" shouting women sit your hypocritical asses down and get FAKE acrylic nails regularly? Fake is fake, so shut up. And we all fake things every day. Is that make-up you're wearing, or does your face naturally look like that? Did you put on lotion, or is your skin naturally not ashy? Perfume? Body spray? Deodorant? Or should we believe mother nature made you smell sweet all the time. Heck, we even put fake smiles on our faces just to get throught the work day! So get over it already.

I love Solange's hair style, she must have met me years ago. I have been wearing my hair that short for 12 1/2 years. I was living in hot Texas, caring my 2nd child (6+ mos pregnant) with a 3 year old in tow and working full time. There was no space or time for hair, I never intended for it to last this long but it works for me and I never stopped getting favorable attention from men. My husband loved it then and loves it now, seventeen years later. He loves me the woman not the hair. I do color it a little sandier than it is naturally. But I would not wear it any other way. Should I change my mind I will stop cutting it and let it grow long again like in college, it is only hair. Only secure self confident women can wear this do and they only attract secure confident men.
