I just spotted this on the Huffington Post. Visit that link for a full slide show of Michelle O images, showing the cut from several angles.
Do you love it, or do you LOVE IT?
I think she looks so awesome -- sleek, modern, trendsetting as always. But, of course, I'm an unabashed "Stan" of the whole Obama clan.
I'm sure Michelle O's many detractors will find a way to spin this into a negative. Hopefully, she'll continue to brush them off. Go 'head, Michelle!
** US Weekly also has a great pic of the style, in case you'd like to see another angle.
*** edited at 11:10 a.m. Central time -- Thanks so much to my new friend, eyebrow guru Rashida B. She sent me this article that reveals -- ta-dah! This "haircut" isn't a cut at all!
Michelle Obama's hairstylist, Johnny Wright, revealed the secret to Urban Beauty Collective.
"No, I didn't cut her hair. There are two things I do. The UP-TUCK, like you are tucking something in. Then I do a TUCK-UP. The UP-TUCK is when I position a small ponytail somewhere on the head, and then I tuck the rest of the hair up under that ponytail. Then a TUCK-UP is when I take the hair and gather it all in the back and I twist it and I pull up and tuck. And that is what she got last night! A TUCK UP! Not a cut.
I have done it on different celebrities, and it looks different every time depending on the length of the hair. It's a really easy up do. And it looks really classy and appropriate for any occasion."
Yes, indeed. So we've all learned a new beauty trick of the trade (that I'm totally gonna try myself!) and quite a few of the commentators on this thread exorcised their inner racist demons on a hair blog. All in all, a learning experience. For some more than others, apparently.

George W. Bush added $5 Trllion to the Natl Debt over 8 yrs, so quit lying about Obama doubling it! Bush left this country in a mess, and now the Republicans are trying to "Spin" it so that it's Obamas' fault! If Bush hadn't invaded a Soverign Country, (Iraq), we would not be in the state of dilema we are in. Just like Nixon, Bush will show up and people will "forget" what he did!

This country was built on the backs of black people, you know, the big antebellum homes, some of the courthouses and official buildings in New York and other places. I think "ole massa" was the cheap lazy ass and the dumb white women who didn't even raise their children, "mammy" did that, while "ole massa" was sleeping with the beautiful black slaves, making more slaves and dumb "ole ms. massa" was allowing to go on because she would have gotten her dumb ass whipped if she said anything!
Also dummy, the hair cut is very much different than Mrs. Clinton's. You need to stay in your lane, whatever it is, because neither fashion or history are you forte.

You white people really worry about the Obamas (unbelievable). I think you would feel better if you do not worry about them because 7 1/2 years is a long time to hate on someone because we will vote for him again believe that.

Note that your response to the short haircut was never mentioned when the Bush's were in power. That's why we have the problem we have now. Some people can make a decision to enter wars, give money to banks without accountability, drive up the deficit and ruin the economy, and then lie to coverup mistakes...think about it, it has a name....REPUBLICAN.

Michelle Obama looks like she's trying to be more "white". When does she start her skin bleaching treatments like Michael Jackson did?

I have had it "up to here" with all this racism and hatred. I thought I had a special friend, with a Hispanic last name. We never met, but I communicated with him via the internet for several years. I could care less what his birth origin was. Then, when Michael died, he sent me the MOST outrageous e-mail {forward} that I have EVER seen. This is the 3rd time he has projected a hint of racism; this time it was obviously blatant. I have since erased his ALL his contact info. Perhaps you have seen the one regarding Farrah Fawcett's entry into heaven, followed by Michael's demise. I care NOT to repeat it; it was too mean and hateful. This is what Nina's response reminds me of. I am beginning to understand why so many people continue to say that these people with rednecked attitudes will have to die before racism can. I { TRULY } did NOT know that the multitude was so high, and I am a retiree, after having taught and loved thousands of ALL kinds of children for 33 years. You people have such stinking, rotten dispositions; you MUST be miserable inside!
