I just spotted this on the Huffington Post. Visit that link for a full slide show of Michelle O images, showing the cut from several angles.
Do you love it, or do you LOVE IT?
I think she looks so awesome -- sleek, modern, trendsetting as always. But, of course, I'm an unabashed "Stan" of the whole Obama clan.
I'm sure Michelle O's many detractors will find a way to spin this into a negative. Hopefully, she'll continue to brush them off. Go 'head, Michelle!
** US Weekly also has a great pic of the style, in case you'd like to see another angle.
*** edited at 11:10 a.m. Central time -- Thanks so much to my new friend, eyebrow guru Rashida B. She sent me this article that reveals -- ta-dah! This "haircut" isn't a cut at all!
Michelle Obama's hairstylist, Johnny Wright, revealed the secret to Urban Beauty Collective.
"No, I didn't cut her hair. There are two things I do. The UP-TUCK, like you are tucking something in. Then I do a TUCK-UP. The UP-TUCK is when I position a small ponytail somewhere on the head, and then I tuck the rest of the hair up under that ponytail. Then a TUCK-UP is when I take the hair and gather it all in the back and I twist it and I pull up and tuck. And that is what she got last night! A TUCK UP! Not a cut.
I have done it on different celebrities, and it looks different every time depending on the length of the hair. It's a really easy up do. And it looks really classy and appropriate for any occasion."
Yes, indeed. So we've all learned a new beauty trick of the trade (that I'm totally gonna try myself!) and quite a few of the commentators on this thread exorcised their inner racist demons on a hair blog. All in all, a learning experience. For some more than others, apparently.

Love the hairstyle. Now I'd love to see her wardrobe made over. Out with the "under boob belts", "itty bitty sweaters", "blow up skirts", "no nylons when meeting with Dignitaries", "puff sleeves". I don't mind the arms showing, but the above mentioned items are attrocious and don't flatter this otherwise intelligent and attractive woman.

Did you question what any of the other presidents and their wives did? or How much they spent. It amazes me how so many people have so many negative things to say about the Obama's and try to put it off on the state of the economy. This country was in over a trillon dollar deficit before President Obama was elected and the economy was already in a state of ruin. So, stop judging the Obama's for enjoying the same perks that all the other Presidents and their families have enjoyed!!!!!!!!!!! No matter what anyone says or does Barrack Obama is still the President of the U.S of A. so get over it!!!!!!!!

Actually Meka, all presidential wives are criticized for their dress, style, taste in furniture, associations and in Hillary Clinton's case her intelligence and assertiveness. You obviously have just started to pay attention to politics!

One difference in Obama and other presidents.....other presidents didn't win an election by promising "change", "transparency" and "hope".
He based the hell out of the Republicans for the state of the economy and promised to be different than all the others.
That's why when "he does the same thing every other president did" it is fair game for criticism.
Don't get yourself into office complaining about what others have done and then turn around and do it yourself.
He is supposed to be so smart. Maybe he should look up the word 'hypocrite' in the dictionary. His picture is probably there in place of a definition.

Actually Bo, I paid attention to politics in the past about as much as I do now...I commented when I felt like it just as I did with this post...I didnt say none of the others have been critized but you def didnt see or hear it as much as now that Mr. Obama is president....No one can deny that the Obama's have faced more critisim in the first 7 months of being in office than the majority of past presidents and their families did their entire term..... we heard things about the other presidents mainly when they did something to make main stream America mad... we didnt read about people calling the First lady ugly, or manly, or counting every dime they spent,etc...why? b/c it wasnt important to critize bc their skin color...So, again I say, people need to get over it
