Former MTV TRL host LaLa Vasquez and current co-host of the VH-1's 'Charm School' has a new hairstyle and with it has officially jumped on the punk bandwagon, releasing a pic this week of her new 'do. It's by far the most glamorous and edgy we've seen her -- with a Farah Fawcett-inspired flip on one side and an unexpected contrast of etched-in parts on the other. Denver Nuggets' Carmelo Anthony's baby mama better work!

Last April music fans gagged when Bad Boy recording artist/Diddy paramour Cassie made the drastic move of shaving her head completely bald on one side of her head. It wasn't for a movie role a' la Sigourney Weaver (Aliens) or Natalie Portman (V for Vendetta). The former model did it 'to shake things up a bit,' she said. It was clearly under the direction from the svengali himself, Sean 'P.Diddy' Combs, known to reinvent his artists to garner tons of press and mass appeal. And it worked.
According to Bossip, Cassie called Lala's hair "Hood" and referred to her own as "Liverpool Punk". Meow?
Diddy can be quite the trendsetter, and this time he may have brought punk to hip-hop. Or was it rapper Eve? Last October she sported a shaved' do at VH1's Hip-Hop Honors. Two weeks ago the pitbull-in-a-skirt showed up at an event for Nicole Richie's House of Harlow accessory line with her head half-shaved yet again, a spiked version with a long Indian-style braid. They're both Scorpios, maybe it's an astrological thing.

Game Over. Kobe Bryant and Brandy
He was a high school phenom on his way to the NBA; she was a teen star with a major crush. It was inevitable that Kobe and Brandy hit it off. But after a highly publicized prom date, this teenage romance fizzled.

Game On! Kim Kardashian and Reggie Bush
Paparazzi can't get enough of this buxom reality star and her New Orleans Saints boyfriend. She might get a little too chatty about their relationship -- she told Tyra he buys her tampons -- but they seem in it for the long haul.

Game Over. Kelly Rowland and Roy Williams
Kelly Rowland was so ready to walk down the aisle with ex-fiance, NFL safety Roy Williams, that she posed on the cover of Modern Bride. Unfortunately, the wedding got called off after the mag hit stands.

Dallas Cowboys fans might think she's a curse, but quarterback Tony Romo clearly likes her around. The two have stuck together through thick and thin. Literally.

Let's give props to history and give credit where credit is due: pop rock star Cyndi Lauper caught worldwide attention in the '80s when she appeared in videos rocking several versions (and colors) of her hair shaved on one side. The style went urban when Lisa Lisa of Lisa Lisa and the Cult Jam did a toned down version in black. Oh how as a kid I loved her tough chic version worn with headbands to top her leather jackets, leggings and off-the-shoulder tops with a gangster attitude. It was 'Fame'-meets-punk and teens in my 'hood were all over it.

Lisa Lisa and the Cult Jam
So who can we expect to also shave their head? I can see Kelis reinventing herself with a futuristic version for her comeback post-baby and even Rihanna rocking a short version a' la Salt-n-Pepa. Either way, it works.

Salt-n-Pepa: WIll Rihanna take it here?
Are you feeling this emerging hair trend that's about to bubble?

I'm not sure about this new look. It's edgy, and I like the way it looks on Kelis, Rihanna and Eve. Because it seems to fit their personality. But Cassie looks like she is trying to HARD. For women in the real world", I pray that this trend doesn't catch on, and if you want to try it, I suggest a wig. That way if you don't like it, you're not stuck with it.agirlsbestfriendwigs

That style looks good on La La....but I agree with Sabrena,

It wasn't Susan Sarandon in Aliens it was Sigourney Weaver. Get facts straight before posting an article. Do you have an editor there because if not I can do that.

I think that LaLa's hair is the BOMB! It's neat and looks well thought out and attractive. Cassie....no. Eve...choose a style, braids, shag, or short..or at leas two of them.
I loved Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam when I was younger. I recently went to an 80's party and I was her. Shirt, skirt, headband, belt, hairstyle and all! My hairdresser did my hair like her's only it wasn't cut. She pinned the sides up with boobypins and made it look short because the curly mowhawk was hanging over it. When I walked in everybody screamed an loved it! That style is about to blow up! And I think it's time that conservative leaves for al little.

LaLa's hair looks good because it works for her. As for Cassie she just looks ridiculous.
But my question is..what happens when you want to grow your hair back? do you jus slap some hair on top til it grows back?

Don't even think about comparing her to Farah! If she was aiming at gansta trash, she got it. Sets off her huge nose and cheap features. Not a single intelligent feature on this face.Oops. forgot: none required. Charm school? How about plain old common sense school.
