Now that winter is over and the wool hats are banished to the storage closet, its about time we let down our buns and enjoy hair that blows in the wind!Yet, one the common complaints I hear from women is that they can't seem to achieve hair that "swangs", or moves effortlessly, without heading to the beauty salon.
Here are a few tips that have helped me achieve that Victoria's Secret swang at home!
1. Clarify
Once a month, shampoo with a clarifying shampoo, followed by detangling shampoo and/or deep conditioner. Clarifying once a month will help you get rid of any build up that can make your hair look dull and lifeless.2. Less Product
When the hair is weighed down with moisturizer or oil, it will lose its ability to move and bounce.
Trade in your moisturizer for a super light liquid leave-in like Jane Carter Revitalizing Leave-In Conditioner or Kenra Daily Provision. Mist or scrunch into hair daily to keep it light, fresh and bouncy.
If you are attached to your moisturizer or oil, use a pea size amount every other day.
3. Swing-able Products
There are certain products that just seem to make your hair "swing" better than others. I personally recommend the Neutrogena Triple Moisture and Paul Mitchell Skinny line. They always leave me with light, bouncy hair.
4. Soft Hair
Hair that feels hard or stiff to the touch won't swing. Soften hair weekly by adding a tablespoon of Sweet Almond Oil to your shampoo or deep conditioner.
5. Setting
For long lasting bounce, nothing beats setting the hair on rollers or flexi rods. If you already set your hair, move down a size in rollers for bouncier curls. Use a light liquid setting lotion and pin curl the hair at night.
Sidenote - I find that mesh rollers tend to keep the hair bouncier for a longer period of time than magnetic rollers. They also are easier to use and take less time to dry, especially for naturals.
I hope this helps! For more tips and techniques, you can find me at www.healthytextures.com.

Winter isn't over where I live, we just got some snow nothing major but it was cold and windy. Even don't like weather like this because no matter how you keep your hair and scalp conditioned and moisturized, my hair sometimes tends to be dry. I am glad that I didn't put away my knit winter hats and stuff. I have long fine hair and in windy weather it blows and messes up my hairstyle. I mostly put my hair up or wear a knit hat in weather conditions like that.
But as far as using light products and very little, I will take in consideration. I use sometimes pomade, gels , hair and scalp conditioners, and olive oil lotion or creme, and hair protector serums to maintain my hair but not everyday and not that much. I could cut down because I notice the product use builds up, hair isn't bouncy anymore, and I can't curl if I want to? I only use a curling iron or flat iron on parts of my hair not all, maybe once or twice a week lightly. I wear my hair down only on special occasions. I am thinking of using mesh curlers sometimes. This will help cut down in using heating products so it won't damage my hair. I used to sleep in those hard curlers and it was so uncomfortable at night. At night before I go to bed, I normally put a touch of olive oil on my hair and ends, pin it up, and wear a silk scarf.
When the weather starts getting better with less wind, rain, and snow, I will start wearing my hair down more. In the summer, I have to think of what products to use to protect my hair from the sun and humidity. I hope you have tips and advice when summer comes.
Thank you Ms. Miller for the tips.

I wish some of those women on that Shari Shepard blog would come over here and read this blog. But they can't because they wear wigs. unfortunately they will never be able to experience how soft and shiny their naturall hair can be; thats why they have not commented. their hair will never move efforlessly in the wind; unless they take that mop off and shake the dust out of it
