For those looking to save a few bucks on hair products, check out this recipe for a homemade deep conditioning treatment, designed to add strength and moisture to the hair.In a small bowl, mix:
1 cup of real mayonnaise
1/2 firm yet ripe avocado
2 tablespoons of sweet almond oil or coconut oil
Mix with a wooden spoon or your finger until the treatment is a thick green color. Apply to the length of the hair and ends. Cover with a plastic cap or saran wrap and let sit for 20-30 minutes. Rinse and shampoo. Follow with a light conditioner or leave-in.
Your hair should feel soft yet strong. The mayonnaise adds strength and body to the hair while the avocado and oil add moisture and shine. Just make sure to use real mayonnaise, nothing with a ton of artificial ingredients. For best results, opt for an organic brand.

I have used mayo for years on my hair. I will have to add the other ingrediants.

so, is this a protein and moisturizing conditioner? I'm currently transitioning and having a problem with the relaxed ends breaking. sounds good and simple to make.

I heard about avocado years ago. I have to try it now my hair and scalp is so dry. I have such thick hair I can't stand it some days. Oils creams lotions grease I tried them all. I'll give food a try. :)

Make sure the avocado is really mashed up, better yet, put it in a blender. If you have any lumps in the avocado, good luck taking it out.
