Q: No matter what i do, I can not seem to grow my hair past shoulder length. My hair seems to be growing but it always breaks off at the same point. Please help!A. I had this same problem a few years ago. My hair seemed to be growing but I could not make it past shoulder length. I eventually realized that I was merely not retaining length. My ends were constantly rubbing up against my sweaters, coats and collars. The friction from this constant contact caused my ends to become dry and break off in the same exact spots.
What really helped me was 1) pinning my hair up more often in buns, twists and updos and 2) wearing my hair in curly styles. The updos helped protect my ends from friction and the curly styles helped shorten my hair so the ends would not graze my shoulders. These styles may help you retain more length and grow your hair past shoulder length. Also, try to moisturize your ends each night with a strengthening moisturizer like ORS Carrot oil to keep them hydrated and strong.

Good advice because there are tons of ways to style up shoulder length hair. http://www.cheesecake-recipes.org/ shows some ways to style the ends and others. If you want to grow your hair further, try a hair vitamin product and keep your hair very well moisturized while growing it out.

I still believe your hair is only meant to grow to a predetermined length dictated by your genes.

This is true-right now my hair has grown past my shoulders, BUT I am very much aware of this same problem occuring with me. Don't wear clothes that are especially rough- another thing to think about- when you ride in your car, pull your hair up or put it in the front across your neck- leaning back on your hair against the car seat can also cause breakage-especially those seats with rough-like material covering them. Leather seats are your friend:)

Help!! My hair will not grow!! It's stuck at the same length :-(. I would love to have beautiful shiny hair. Any advice? I use the Cream of Nature box perm which makes my hair soft but it never seems to get any longer...

Buy the book "Black Hair Is"... The Complete Hair Care Guide for Today's Black Woman by Marilyn Singleton. It has been highly acclaimed by all of the top magazines -- white and black.

I love wearing weaves because all you have to do is buy the length you want! Lots of women can't grow their hair past a certain point... but you would never know it with a good weave!
Make sure to use Indian hair or virgin hair because it will be the most natural. Try IndianHairCompany.com because I know they are very reputable and their hair is the best you can buy.
