The moment Erykah Badu hit the music scene in the late '90s she made it her duty to showcase her eccentric and unique style to the world.
Badu made the African head wrap a trademark for her image and over the years she has switched her do so often we lost count.
Just like her music, the singer's hair continues to change and evolve. She constantly pushes the envelope, seemingly on a daily basis, with her hair, clothing and attitude.
Though the styles may not always be the most appealing, we can't help but admire her. Here's a tribute to all the hairstyles she's had and for all the styles that are yet to come.
Erykah Badu Hair Transformation
Erykah Badu first hit the scene as the ethno centric soulful singer we all learned to love. Her African style and head wrap became a trademark early in her career and allowed her to be spotted from a mile away.

She took her head wrap do to a whole new level at the 41st Annual Grammy Awards in 1999. As her career began to grow, apparently so did the size of her hair.

Badu ditched the head wrap eventually but opted to keep the dreads. She was finally able to rock hats that weren't 4 feet tall.

Badu shocked everyone when she arrived to the 43rd annual Grammys Awards in 2001 with a shaved head. The short cut allowed people to take notice of her beautiful face.

With her new shaven head, Badu began sporting multiple styled hats. Here she is rocking a dreadlike knit hat performing for the VH1 Save the Music Foundation at the B.B. King Blues Club & Grill in New York City. 10/3/01

Badu experimented with colorful wigs in 2002. Check out this red wig attempt. Reminds me of a Wendy's commercial. Not exactly Erykah at her best.

Badu decided to tame her mane in 2002 when she began wearing micro braids. Who's the only person that could get away with rocking clothespins in her hair? Clearly Erykah Badu.

Erykah had her hippie moment as well. For some time she sported flower power headbands along with her micro braids.

The R&B singer sported this Angela Davis inspired Afro-do at the 45th annual Grammy's Awards in NYC. Power to the people!

We just love the natural look on the soulful singer. If you ask me, natural does a girl good. This look is definitely a keeper.

People are not that naive. We as people choose to be good or bad, nasty & mean or welcoming the new and exciting things into your life. All trhat hate that spills from your mouthes as you make mockery, say things that are offensive about a woman you know nothing about but what you want to see. I always believed especially with a man, let alone a woman as well but she should know better that untill you stand in front of your mirror naked and say i love you everyday at least a hundred times untill your purpose to judge other's yet ye that judge shall be judged, so my friends tred lightly for we are human and we not gods.Keep telling yourself everyday your beautiful or handsome, and I love you, eventually you will understand as long as you can cling onto your monsterous remarks you will always disrespect others for you have none for yourself.I actually believe she'd forgive you for playing the fool on the hill and people up there it gets lonely. So high and mighty-

I am not an anyways suggesting that one race is better then the next. maybe I did not express myself correctly but if you take the time to read everything else i wrote, there's about 6 comments I speak of the ignorance of bigotry and racisum. Though I do not tell the people to whom have said the cruel and ignorant remarks anything except practice loving yourself and maybe one day your will eventually seeing in colors is aluxery and that I being around mexicans and african americans almost my entire life I donot have the right nor do I choose to argue with everybody whose attacked Erykah Badu because of her diversity and because of the woman she is.All I do is try and remind others that basically isn't their anything better you can do then judge a beautiful woman because you have confused her garmet above her head as a teran and even if that was so thats her choice. Yet they took it a step further and told the sponser of the link calling him mohamad & being rude. One of my best friends name is mohamad and I'd never ever be ashamed of what we share. He is from kuiwait and shines like a firefly.Yet that doesn't mean I don't pray for our men & women to come home safely.I am not a woman of many contradictions, I am of many convictions. So when i said i see in color I see only beauty, when I hear or read such horrible things it literally breaks my heart, and that to I allow myself to feel so that I NEVER forget when I pray for each of you and ask god for your forgiveness. Then I ask god to forgive me for thinking some of them are beyond help.

For those of you who say that Erykah Badu is ugly it's because your idea of pretty is that of European features, in other words, the closer to white the more acceptable one may be deemed as attractive. Erykah Badu is beautiful in every sense of the word. I love her big beautiful brown eyes. She is a naturally beautiful black woman that can wear any style.
