The moment Erykah Badu hit the music scene in the late '90s she made it her duty to showcase her eccentric and unique style to the world.
Badu made the African head wrap a trademark for her image and over the years she has switched her do so often we lost count.
Just like her music, the singer's hair continues to change and evolve. She constantly pushes the envelope, seemingly on a daily basis, with her hair, clothing and attitude.
Though the styles may not always be the most appealing, we can't help but admire her. Here's a tribute to all the hairstyles she's had and for all the styles that are yet to come.
Erykah Badu Hair Transformation
Erykah Badu first hit the scene as the ethno centric soulful singer we all learned to love. Her African style and head wrap became a trademark early in her career and allowed her to be spotted from a mile away.

She took her head wrap do to a whole new level at the 41st Annual Grammy Awards in 1999. As her career began to grow, apparently so did the size of her hair.

Badu ditched the head wrap eventually but opted to keep the dreads. She was finally able to rock hats that weren't 4 feet tall.

Badu shocked everyone when she arrived to the 43rd annual Grammys Awards in 2001 with a shaved head. The short cut allowed people to take notice of her beautiful face.

With her new shaven head, Badu began sporting multiple styled hats. Here she is rocking a dreadlike knit hat performing for the VH1 Save the Music Foundation at the B.B. King Blues Club & Grill in New York City. 10/3/01

Badu experimented with colorful wigs in 2002. Check out this red wig attempt. Reminds me of a Wendy's commercial. Not exactly Erykah at her best.

Badu decided to tame her mane in 2002 when she began wearing micro braids. Who's the only person that could get away with rocking clothespins in her hair? Clearly Erykah Badu.

Erykah had her hippie moment as well. For some time she sported flower power headbands along with her micro braids.

The R&B singer sported this Angela Davis inspired Afro-do at the 45th annual Grammy's Awards in NYC. Power to the people!

We just love the natural look on the soulful singer. If you ask me, natural does a girl good. This look is definitely a keeper.

Erykah Badu does what very few African American female artist do: She embraces her heritage while evolving artistically. Her essence is never lost. She becomes the beautiful African Queen all African Kings search the world for.

Quite honestly, I think she looked better in the bald haircut than any of the others.

Anyone still using the term "Hater or Hatin" cannot be taken seriously, in a serious discussion. It's silly street talk, time to improve your vernacular children.

ugh...she is just so dirty looking, she looks like she smells. I did like her performance in House of D but otherwise she gives me the creeps.
