The Trend Report: Wedding Hair Accessories '08

Comments (1)

As we are now waist deep in the official wedding season, we've decided to highlight wedding hair trends happening this year. In this week's post we explore the variety of hair accessories available for today's bride and her bridal party. Side note to all reluctant bridesmaids, unlike many bridesmaids dresses. hair accessories, can be quite fun and something you will most likely wear long after the wedding is over! Yay!

After checking in with a variety of celebrity hairstylists to see what exactly were the latest trends in wedding hair accessories, this is what I discovered:

"I see the trend for wedding hair this season is straying away from the tiaras and leaning more toward decorative headbands, hair combs and hair pins. Right now brides are going for more simple less ornate dress, they are also leaning towards simpler hair accessories but with longer veils. The decorative hair pins are really big this year, there some are very unique and beautiful ones out there, and the bride can wear them, with or with veils."--Dana Gibbs, Celebrity Hairstylist, Danasloft.com

With that in mind I set out to find the hottest pieces: from the demure to the dramatic, there really is a wedding hair accessory for every bride regardless of hair texture.

As someone who grew up at her Grandmother's dressing table, I learned at a very early age not only how to apply the most beautiful shade of red lipstick, but how to really rock out hair accessories, especially hair combs and barrettes, which as we've just discovered are super hot for brides this year. Check out the variety of styles below.

This blinged out "Dynasty" barrette is worthy of any diva about to take the first step down the marital runway and if you are a bridesmaid, this is definetly a piece you will be rocking way after the first wedding dance. You can pick this up at Perfectdetails.com

Bridal combs are another great way to look fabulous while saying, "I do."

This all rhinestone floral hair comb from Cinderella's Pumpkin, is certainly not for the faint of heart, because it certainly screams: 'look at me!" I wonder what type of wedding hair accessories Star Jones rocked at her wedding?

However if you are seeking a more classic, demure piece, this pearl and rhinestone cluster comb might just do the trick!

I also discovered a wonderful bevvy of hairpins and headbands available for this year's bride. I must admit, I can honestly see why one would turn into a Bridezilla--just having to choose from all of these yummy hair accessories--would drive me bonkers! LOL.

This crystal daisy themed pin includes silver vines accented with flat back rhinestones, on a hairpin! You can rock it on the side or as a back piece, according to Perfectdetails.com

or for those who wish to keep it simple, check out these elegant pearl and crystal pins by Cinderella's Pumpkin.

As you will see below there are tons of headbands available from flexible crystal bands to handpainted ivory roses to rhinestone flowers..enjoy!

And for those of you who love to add a little soulful, diva flavor into your bridal style, check out these cultural wedding hair accessories courtesy of Loc Jewelry by NewBein. Also note that many of these pieces are especially created for sistas with locs.

These pieces not only pay tribute to both the female form and Egyptian culture but are quite lovely in tones of gold, silver and pewter.

Whichever styles you choose...congratulations are in order!!!!

Until next time...keep it shiny!
